RI’s Hudson Companies Announces 50th Anniversary*****************
LIQUID ASPHALT COMPANY CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE Providence, RI – The Hudson Companies today announced that the year 2005 marks its 50-year anniversary. Based in Providence, Rhode Island, the company and its affiliates have been importing, developing and distributing high quality liquid asphalt products since 1955. With multiple facilities throughout New England, including a state-of-the-art laboratory on the Providence waterfront where innovative asphalt products are developed and tested, The Hudson Companies has retained its status as an industry leader for five decades. “Since 1955, The Hudson Companies has been a recognized leader in the asphalt industry,” said Tom Hudson, CEO of The Hudson Companies. “My father started this company 50 years ago with a commitment to deliver quality products and superior service. This commitment remains in effect today and because of his simple business philosophy, our company has continued to grow.” Established by John J. Hudson, Sr., The Hudson Companies has been a part of the fabric of the Rhode Island business community since its inception. Mr. Hudson launched the company by servicing a few Rhode Island municipal contracts and private contractors. Today, with a modern fleet of delivery vehicles and five affiliated companies, Hudson services private contractors as well as state and local governments across the New England region, including the State of Rhode Island. The company, which began with less than five employees, now employs more than 75 people and boasts the largest liquid asphalt terminal in the Northeast. “During the last 50 years, The Hudson Companies has been a leader in the development of technological advancements in the asphalt industry. We continue to invest in research and development to ensure Hudson remains an industry leader,” said Chief Operating Officer and President Fran O’Brien. “Our main focus will continue to be our customers and an attempt to meet or exceed their expectations of the products and services that we provide.” The Hudson Companies will celebrate their 50th anniversary with business associates, employees and clients with a variety of events throughout the year. The company will also host a charitable golf tournament and dinner. Proceeds of the tournament will benefit the University of Rhode Island through the establishment of the John J. Hudson Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will benefit New England students in the civil engineering program at the university. “This is a milestone in which we take great pride,” said Tom Hudson. “We will work to ensure that the company is prepared to meet the demands of our clients and the challenges of an ever-changing industry.” The Hudson Companies is comprised of five affiliates: Hudson Liquid Asphalt, Hudson Terminal, Hudson Laboratories, American Liquid Asphalt, and Triram Connecticut, each contributing a different element to the company’s overall mission. |
