Hudson Companies: A history of quality, service.
The Hudson Companies are a New England success story with a long history of envisioning new roads to success. Employing technology and a customer-first mentality, we’ve relied on our core competencies to introduce new products and ventures.
It started in 1955 when John J. Hudson Sr. established a small asphalt company with a vision of delivering quality products and the highest level of customer service. When it came time to name the street leading to Hudson’s offices, the City of Providence asked John for suggestions. His reply: One Service Road. With only five employees, the company began by servicing just a handful of Rhode Island municipalities and private contractors.
Hudson petitioned Congress and made history in 1962 as the first non-refiner to secure an importation license after acquiring a waterfront terminal on land now known as the Port of Providence. The terminal allowed tankers to deliver liquid asphalt directly to Hudson’s Providence location through the convenience of Narragansett Bay.
Hudson expanded the business by recognizing market needs and moving to fill them. With materials at the ready and a growing reputation
as a company committed to the highest standards for its products, services and people, John J. Hudson, Inc. became what is now collectively known as The Hudson Companies. Through the following decades, we grew through creating or acquiring several additional companies to increase efficiency and product synergy. They include: Hudson Liquid Asphalts, Hudson Terminal Corporation, Hudson Laboratories, American Liquid Asphalts, Triram Connecticut LLC, Tri-products LLC, and Asphalt Enhancement, LLC.
The Hudson Companies remain committed to the vision of its founder; importing, and distributing asphalt products to clients with Hudson’s dedication to customer service. The company boasts a modern fleet of delivery vehicles, a modern laboratory and multiple terminals in the Northeast, which together ensure clients’ products, are “on-spec, on-time, every-time.”
